FMS visit for on-the-job training in calibration (2015)

Three technical officers from the Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) visited WMO/RIC Tsukuba from 17 to 24 June 2015 for on-the-job training in meteorological instrument calibration as part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project for Reinforcing Meteorological Training Function of FMS. The trainees practiced calibration and developed guidelines for associated procedures relating to temperature, humidity and pressure.

One of RIC/Tsukuba's key roles involves assisting WMO Members in calibrating their national meteorological standards and related environmental monitoring instruments. In this connection, the training is considered to have been successful and to have contributed to the mutual development of meteorological services provided by FMS and JMA.
